Educate for Change was started by educators (one Ugandan, two Americans) to support at-risk and vulnerable children recovering from a 25-year conflict in Northern Uganda.
Our primary focus in 2012 was to provide bright, motivated students in post-conflict Uganda, the opportunity to attend secondary school. We started with 15. What we quickly realized was that sending them to school was not enough. They needed support. Over the past ten years, we have supported community based organizations provide writing workshops, study skills training, holiday tutoring, girl’s health and leadership workshops, student leadership workshops, teacher support, and curriculum design for over 600 students in Uganda, Rwanda, and India.
